Many people do believe they can lose it. Many false teachings of mainstream religions teach that you can lose it.

This has always puzzled me because anyone who is saved knows we have nothing to do with receiving salvation so how in the world would we think we are strong enough or smart enough to do something to give it back.

Jesus is the one who saves us and He is the one who keeps us. Romans tells us clearly who we are saved and it also makes it clear that He will keep us saved.

Romans 5:8-11 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

Romans 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

So how can we be sure that we have salvation and that we can’t lose it? Again we go to scripture for the answer.

John 6:37 “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. 38 “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 “This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. 40 “And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

John 10:27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 “And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

Romans 8:35, 38-39 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This includes you! You can’t separate yourself from God. Once you have given your life to Jesus and believed in Him as your savior you can’t take it back, you can’t mess it up. Yes you will sin, yes you will stumble and fall, yes you will try to take it back, but you can’t.

You will stop serving Him from time to time or ignore Him when He is asking you to do something, but you CANNOT remove yourself from the Lambs book of life once Jesus has written your name there. He writes it in the book with his own blood and it doesn’t wash out and it is not written in pencil. It is written in permanent marker.

So stop wasting your time worrying about losing your place in Heaven. Stop worrying about something that God promises can’t happen.

Does God ever break a promise? No, He can’t, he doesn’t lie. So if God says you can’t lose it you can’t lose it.

Now if you made a false confession and your name was never really written in the book, to begin with, that is a whole different story and you need to correct that immediately. If you are worried that you aren't really saved, then you are. Because if you were not saved you wouldn't be worried about it.

These are all promises. You don’t get eternal life when your flesh dies, you get eternal life the moment you accept Jesus Christ as your LORD and savior.

2 Timothy 1:12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

Jude 24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding great joy.

1Peter 1:3-5 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

You’re not the one who saved you and you’re not the one keeping yourself saved. Jesus saved you and He is the one who keeps you saved.

We could be here all-day reading verse after verse that promises us eternal life when we put our trust and faith in Jesus.

We could spend a month of Sundays talking about God’s promises that tell us we are secure in our salvation, but the bottom line is once you have you have it.

But I think you get the point. Give yourself a break and stop trying to break God’s promises and just do what He asks you to do, follow Him, give Him your life, and let Him do the rest.

God loves you!
